Paul wrote in his letter to the Ephesians: “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (5:15- 16). As a fellowship we aim to take this advice seriously and try to make the most of every opportunity.

Although the days are evil, God’s grace gives us reasons to rejoice, as there have been some conversions recently. I will start with them and then I will give an account of two events which have taken place in our church.

CANDIDATES FOR BAPTISM

Some of the Vision for Europe readers will remember that we had one person ready for baptism. Quite recently two more have joined him.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Let me now share about the events. Our sixth fellowship retreat took place on the first Saturday last October. We enjoyed beautiful weather in a lovely village about 30 kilometres from Łódź. We stayed in a country house surrounded by fields, with cows grazing in some of them. One has to see it in order to picture the beauty of it. Our group consisted of 22 people. The hosts at this farm made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. They baked bread for us and later roasted some meat.

The combination of lovely scenery and aromas cheered everyone up. Apart from the set tasks people could do what they chose. Some played volleyball or read books, others walked or cycled. Almost everyone took a lot of photos. At times we looked like a group of Japanese tourists!

Apart from games and relaxation we spent some time in prayer. We prayed in groups on the grass. There were some people behind the net fence so they could see and hear everything we did. They also heard our singing. I think this was a good thing. Before setting off on our way back home we prayed for God’s blessing.

Our hosts were present at that time and they heard us too, so we hope we have been a good testimony to them. Pastor Zbigniew Modnicki and his wife Elżbieta had been to this farm before. Encouraged by their account of it we followed suit and decided to visit this place. That is how we used this day given by the Lord.

A week later we had a viewing of the film called Luther. Two guests showed up and we were happy to have them with us. We hope more visits from them will follow.

Coming back to Paul, I need to add that the “evil days” require our concentration and that we use our time wisely. We need to pray and seek wisdom about this – which is what we want to do as the ‘Soli Deo Gloria’ fellowship. We are also grateful for the wisdom already given to us.
